CRITICAL REFLECTIONS AND PRESERVATION PROPOSALS OF OPEN-AIR CULTURAL HERITAGE

ABSTRACT:

Within the area between Lazio and Campania, historically known as the Land of Work, have arisen many castles, fortresses and fortified towns, which are assessed for their issues of the outdoor preservation and of the dynamics related to these because sites still in use today and in the state of ruin. The analysis is divided into three phases: processing of a heritage of information, assessing of the current state of preservation and of the restoration projects implemented and preservation’s tips. Issues of alteration and deterioration of the materials found in different sites are discussed, then three examples of restorations of the late XX century are exposed and at the end the suggestions for the preservation of three sites in the state of ruin are proposed.
