ABSTRACT

The building complex known as Hospitium Comunis Pergami is actually an aggregation of buildings that

arose in various epochs for different purposes. Before the planning of the operations of restoration and

valorisation has been carried out a detailed diagnostic study. The aim of the project was to restore an

appearanceofunitywithoutconsealingthesignsofhistorymakingthemintelligible.

During the excavation campaign, stratigraphic analysis led to the identifications of a total of ten phases.

Some essential guidelines of the project have been: compatibility, reversibility and minimum interference,

limiting modern additions to those necessary to insure the survival and the fruition of the archeological area.

The itinerary realized with a new gangway has allowed the removal of architectural barriers; multimedia

facilities have been elaborated for the purpose of publicizing the complex. Lastly a programme for the

routinemaintenanceandprotectionofthetreatedarcheologicalstructureshasbeendrawnup.
