ABSTRACT

The paper provides some reflections of methodological and operative nature on the relations between

conservation, restoration, use and enhancement of archaeological sites, through the "story" of a concrete

experience which the authors have participated within the international cooperation. It is a research program

funded by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research, aimed at the creation of the

archaeological park of Tilmen Höyük, pre-Hittite city in south-east Turkey (in the region of Islahiye-

Gaziantep) in a context of strong inter-, multi-and trans-disciplinary approach. The research project can also

be read as a sort of "guideline" for the design, implementation and management of archaeological parks of a

similar nature and consistency in the Mediterranean region. The Archaeological Park Tilmen Höyük was

inauguratedinOctober2007.
