A projectual comparison with the archaeological remains raises interpretation questions which collide with the

boldness that any preservation activity involves. Therefore, I proposed, Within a laboratory experience, to a team

of junior engineers, aspiring to a degree in Construction engineering for the recovery, to tackle the fate of the

RomanVillaofPatti,withtheaimofverifyingpossiblewaystopreserveitsmemory,protecttheculturalheritage

found in the area, promote and enhance an historical, artistic and archaelogical heritage of transnational

importance.

The proposed attempt tries to go beyond the creation of a simple coverage – an obsolete intervention

alreadyruinouslyappliedtoarchaeological remains intheearlyyearsofthismillennium –totest newerand

courageous approaches, used timidly elsewhere: on the theater of Sagunto, on the Villa del Casale in Piazza

Armerina,ontheAcropolisMuseuminAthens.

From identification of the peculiar elements to their scientific cataloging, from identification the most

appropriate techniques for the conservation, protection, enhancement of the archaeological remains to the

timely verification of the compatibility of technologies innovative with the ancient structures, these have

been some strategies for a graphic elaboration of spaces and services related to fruition of museum, to

promotethesite inacircuitofculturaltourism.

We present in this paper the methodological approach to the project, that has become the emblematic of a

search path, an attempt to rescue the cultural heritage from an intolerable invisibility : the goals, choices and

the training outcomes achieved, through the optics of who has lived this experience with the enthusiasm of

theneophyte,supportedbymycommitment,coordinationandaddresstoscholarinthefieldofrecovery.
