ABSTRACT

Nowadays a good number of activities, proposed to enhance the value of cultural assets, take massively

advantage of multimedia and virtual reality, which are mainly used to facilitate the understanding of the

heritage, like the archaeological sites, which would otherwise risk to remain unknown to the majority of the

public.

Heritage could find in multimedia a scientifically rigorous ally for the purposes of cultural dissemination.

Thanks to them, drawing on live excavation, it would be possible to create an ongoing model of

development, which remains in every stage of the conservation process. By analyzing some examples of the

Italian scene, the paper aims at providing a method for the development of parks and archaeological

landscapes.

Referring in particular to the policies towards schools students, in respect for which the Amsterdam

Declaration called for an educational action on the principles of Integrated Conservation and knowledge of

the heritage, we propose more empirical and experiential enhancement processes, which will be more

suitable to each individual. In this respect, drawing on the archaeological world, we suggest to use some of

theexperimentalarchaeologymethods.

The combination of the experimental method and the digital experience might actually achieve a calibrated

enhancementontheyounggeneration,whichintegratescognitiveknowledge,sensorialexperienceandfun.
