ABSTRACT

In Luni, since 1984, is operating a “Sistema Museale” arranged according to a polycentric exhibition path

that includes several areas of archaeological research directly related to exhibition thematic centers prepared

insidethenineteenthcenturyhamletswithinreclamationdistrictsofLuni,todayownedbytheState.

In 2004 an articulated enhancement program was elaborated through different functional lots, merged in the

Project “Grande Luna – Linee Guida per l’istituzione del Parco Archeologico della Città antica e del suo

territorio”,fundedbyARCUSS.p.a.

The project involves the expansion of exhibition areas and of itineraries, including the extension of the

excavations, as well as the construction of a roofing for the “Domus degli Affreschi” with the use of

innovative technologies, particularly in an archaeological context, through the use of renewable energy

systems. The project investigates the relationship between Luni and the surrounding territory and tries to

define what may be today the catchment area of a cultural revival in terms of “polo museale lunense”, both

within the Apuan-lunense territory, understood as the direct relevance of the city, and within the trans-

regionalscope,indirectrelevanceoftheancientRomancolony.
