ABSTRACT

Founded as a result of the discovery of both a Longobard and a Roman necropolis discovered during the

seventies of the last century, during the last forty years the civic museum has become an appreciated a most

distinguished institution. Located in Arsago Seprio it has been included recently among the archeological

system of the district (SiMArch). The experience described by the recognition, both of foundation and history

of the museum, is to be considered as a case study referring pro and contro of the cooperation between

different figures involved in the evaluation of an archeological site. Furthermore it shows that after the initial

discoveries, many others had come to prove how important is the presence of a local inspector and how wide

maybeconsideredourideaofanarcheologicalsite.

The aim of this script is to admit that such a result had been possible throught a watchful, prompt and

qualified activity of special figures working inside and outside the national conservation bureau and the

museumitself.

It is finally proposed that this cooperation may be endorsed and established at the beginning of a

conservation process and, considering the role played by the municipality in the civic museum management,
