ABSTRACT

The text addresses the question of sustainability in the restoration work from an opposite point of view, almost like a 'reductio ad absurdum', reflecting whether there might be a not sustainable restoration.

In fact, the very meaning of the restoration is essentially to search for and to find maintainability, endurance, structural strengthening, protection of various kinds and degrees and durability (terms, attributable entirely to the primary meaning of sustainability), for the full transmission of the values of a building to subsequent generations.
