ABSTRACT:
The use of modern techniques in restoration projects is problematic because they are often considered invasive and capable of altering the original structure of the edifice. Moreover, the contemporary request of energy optimization into private and public buildings, rarely can be satisfied when an historical construction is involved. About energy saving, should be noted that heat originated by diurnal solar irradiation, mainly flows thought the roof and especially in palaces located on the narrow streets characteristic of ancient cities. In this work, thermal analysis of roofs covered by clay bent tiles, belongings to Italian tradition, has been conducted and a treatment able to reduce the heat-stream leading to cool-roof condition has been designed.
