ABSTRACT

The last but one restoration (1984 –’86) of the Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World, built in New York harbor, USA by F. A. Bartholdi and E. Eiffel (1886). Analysis of the motivations, of the style, of the dimensions of the Statue of Liberty National Monument, designed at the end of XIXth century. Description of the constructive and technological decisions taken in order to build the big statue in the Bedoe’s Island in the Manhattan Harbor (1883 – ’86).Report of the analysis performed, of the problems overcome, of the technical phases faced, of the technological decisions taken, for the restoration of the statue between 1984 and 2013.Example of a emigrant from South of Italy to USA, in the last century.
