COMPLESSO MONUMENTALE DELLA “Fortuna da Mar” – PUNTA DELLA DOGANA A VENEZIA: RESTAURO DEGLI ELEMENTI SCULTOREI

The present work regards to both the preliminary studies and working stages of the intervention of the monumental complex "Fortuna da Mar" located in Punta Della Dogana in Bacino S. Marco at the beginning of the Grand Canal.

This restoration is part of a wider requalification of the entire Punta della Dogana, which was going to become the center for contemporary art desired by the François Pinault Foundation.

Diagnostic studies done have focused on the internal iron structure and underlined their deepy corrosion state and their no longer able to carry out original function.

The operations described below are the direct consequence of the need to replace the previous supporting structure with a static-safe hardware.

The first step was the removal the elements copper lamina in the sculpture called “Occasio." then the old internal structure was replaced with a new iron frame; thereafter the copper lamina elements were restored and finally remounted.
