ABSTRACT

The materials used in the conservation process are sometimes effect of fashion or habitude. A short reflection about some of these and like for some conservation methods, could be useful for a better evaluation of the different quality and behaviours in close relation with the needs for conservation and the compatibility between the original materials with those adopted in the conservation work. Therefore, also for the materials there is a long tradition and discussion between experts or restorers about the use in an orthodox or heretic way the application or use of different materials, new or tradition.
