ABSTRACT

After the concreting of monuments perpetrated in the second half of the last century, the culture of conservation has produced specific materials for the restauration of the historical housebuilding. Today, while the archaeometric research enriches the ancient material history, industry produces innovative materials of elevated performance or even "smart." Some of these, with micro and nano-sized, inaugurate a culture of more active maintenance, which offers more possibilities for cultural object of belonging to the present with a conservative approach. It is therefore appropriate brief comments on some of these materials that, in the near future, more and more invade the field of preservation of historical heritage. The Innovation and Conservation concepts evolve towards a new equilibrium, from which comes also reinforced the concept of Valorization, which should also aim at cultural redevelopment of the visitors. It makes one wonder how many sites and monuments can be visited through the virtual reality? Certainly the authenticity of cultural heritage can best be preserved over time without disregarding the development of innovation, respecting and preserving the material history of the cultural property. So the real conservative action is manifested as critical project. It must have founded both on the historical knowledge, both on the scientific one, being aware of its transitoriness in the life of the cultural property. But above all, it must be able to combine a conscious conservation with an innovative enhancement.
