THE RECONSTRUCTION OF MEMORY: HERESY OR ORTHODOXY?
In this historic moment when we are witnessing the planned destruction of cultural heritage, the question of the reconstruction of memory also. When in history occur passages net civilizations, these determine clashes between ethnic and religious groups which also involve the cultural heritage. The identity motivations have proven troubling and require a reflection in order to diminish the virus payload. The conflicts, continuous and persistent, they change not only the physical boundaries, but they risk jeopardizing the survival of cultural identity. The search for a common language is a must in the path of coexistence, cooperation and development, for which the protection of the heritage emerges as the primary goal. The value of history is opened to different problematic, the production and circulation of information and the evolution of glowing techniques, help to speed up the story. After the destructive fury, there arises the problem of reconstruction to ensure the identity of peoples and the continuity of the story. In the actions that follow must take account of the complexity of contemporary society and the conservation needs must overcome obsolescence by keeping alive the ability to transmit to the future. In this phase the disciplines of restoration do not find answers only in traditional methodologies having to store, in addition to matter often compromised, especially the memory. They open up new perspectives of intervention that open up new theoretical discussions about the restoration discipline; the contribution is to present some typical cases in order to urge the discussion of issues of orthodoxy or heresy of interventions.
